Beacon and Balance LLC

Privacy

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Beacon and Balance LLC ("Thin Place," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Thin Place website, iOS application, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

The information we process depends on the features you use, the permissions you grant, and how you interact with the Service. Some user content may reveal religious beliefs or other information that applicable law treats as sensitive. You choose whether to provide that content.

Information we collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

We collect information from you, automatically through the Service and technologies such as cookies and software development kits, and from providers that help us operate the Service.

How we use information

We may use information to:

Artificial intelligence features

Some features may use artificial intelligence or automated systems to generate, personalize, organize, moderate, or otherwise process content. When you use those features, we and providers acting on our behalf may process your prompts, content, account context, and resulting output to provide the feature, protect the Service, and improve the requested experience.

We may use minimized or de-identified information to evaluate and improve our features. We do not permit third-party AI providers to use identifiable user content to train their general-purpose models for their own purposes.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

We and our providers may use cookies, pixels, local storage, software development kits, and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember preferences, understand usage, diagnose problems, measure campaigns, and provide contextual advertising. Where required, we request consent or provide controls before using non-essential technologies.

The iOS app asks before sharing privacy-preserving, pseudonymous product-usage analytics. These events may include a random installation identifier, a rotating session identifier, app version, whether the app was signed in, the feature or practice category used, a coarse time, and a small set of fixed interaction categories. Analytics events do not contain account identifiers, email addresses, prayers, journal or reflection text, intentions, sacred words, Scripture text, mood or crisis information, notification content, or exact practice durations. Installation and session identifiers are transformed before storage, source IP addresses are not retained with these events, and individual events are deleted after 90 days. You can turn this sharing off in Settings; doing so also clears analytics waiting to be sent from the app.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may use contextual advertising and measure our own campaigns without tracking you across unrelated businesses.

How we disclose information

We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

We may use and disclose aggregated or de-identified information for any lawful purpose, and we do not reasonably attempt to re-identify information we maintain in that form.

Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide the Service, maintain business and tax records, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the Service. Retention depends on the type of information, the sensitivity of the information, the applicable feature, and legal or operational requirements. When information is no longer needed, we may delete or de-identify it.

Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; or appeal our response. You may also have the right to opt out of certain targeted advertising or other processing. Thin Place does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

You may manage certain settings in the Service, adjust device permissions through your operating system, unsubscribe from promotional email using the link in the message, or contact us to exercise a privacy right. We may verify your request and may retain information where permitted or required by law. Authorized agents may submit requests where applicable. You may contact your local data protection authority if you believe your rights have been violated.

International processing and legal bases

Thin Place is operated from the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries whose data protection laws may differ from those where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

Depending on applicable law, we process information to perform our contract with you, with your consent, to comply with legal obligations, and for legitimate interests such as operating, improving, securing, and promoting the Service. You may withdraw consent at any time, but doing so does not affect earlier processing.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

The Service is not intended for children under 13, and children under 13 may not create an account or use the Service. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Third-party services and content

The Service may link to or integrate content and services provided by others, including Apple and YouVersion. Their handling of information is governed by their own terms and privacy policies when they act independently from us.

Changes

We may update this policy prospectively as our practices or applicable requirements change. We will update the date above and provide reasonable notice of material changes. We will request additional consent when required by applicable law.
